camlibtm II, the next one!: 2 years, 1 month ago · ViewThe benefits of a Friday night hadn’t occurred to me, but that’s certainly something that’s worth bearing in mind for future events (not just TeachMeets). Planning discussions did spend quite a long time musing over the benefits of having a couple of hours, or half a day, or a whole day. As Celine said, we [...]

camlibtm II, the next one!: 2 years, 1 month ago · ViewThanks Nicky! Really glad you found it useful and already putting things into action (I’m impressed) I’ve thought since the first one that a half-day or full-day would be great, think there’s enough scope for it but always have to balance that with people needing time off work/permission to attend to a daytime thing…. Think [...]

As Katie mentioned, she and I are presenting a short paper about TeachMeet at the LILAC Conference in April, so if anyone has feedback on the evening we’d really appreciate it – what did you like? What could we [...]

I also recently completed the MA Information Services Management at London Metropolitan University. Whilst I’m looking for my first professional post, I’ve been trying to get my fingers into as many library pies as possible! As well as being a member [...]

camlibtm II, the next one!: 2 years, 3 months ago · ViewHello Meg – it’s great to meet you (virtually) and I look forward to meeting you in person before too long. I’m very impressed with how you’re getting involved with so many things when you’re just starting a new job, and, I assume, a new country. As for my introduction, I’m Katie Birkwood, currently Hoyle [...]

camlibtm II, the next one!: 2 years, 3 months ago · ViewHello Jayne,
At last I’ve managed to put a name to a face, and vice versa. As well as Anna Martin’s prezi, Ned Potter (aka the wikiman, who gave the echolib paper at Libraries@Cambridge this year) has some really good tips on how to use prezi: some written tips and examples and a slideshow.

camlibtm II, the next one!: 2 years, 3 months ago · ViewHello. I recently started as a special projects officer at the Judge Business School library. My job is really fantastic: am getting to start a lot of interesting new services — which I hope to speak about a bit at the TM — and am learning a lot about business databases (a steep learning curve!). [...]

camlibtm II, the next one!: 2 years, 3 months ago · ViewMy normal day job is Reader Services Librarian at the Medical Library – supporting students, researchers and clinical staff in the University of Cambridge and the NHS. This involves teaching literature searching, helping to find those all important papers, and also supporting broader research skills like reference management and planning systematic reviews. I’m also lucky [...]

camlibtm II, the next one!: 2 years, 3 months ago · ViewHello!
I’m Librarian at Homerton College. We mostly do ad hoc teaching as our students are so varied in their interests. I’m always interested in finding new ways to engage or communicate with them. I’m on the TeachMeet committee now, after going to the first TeachMeet and really enjoying the whole experience. -

camlibtm II, the next one!: 2 years, 4 months ago · ViewI think I’d like to see slightly longer nano presentations…2 minutes kept it short and sweet but at points didn’t always seem long enough. Maybe consider bumping it up ever so slightly (3 minutes even) just to give the captive audience a little bit more?
